NEWS:

11/13/04-  Added an SPI swap info page.

11/6/04- First update in almost a year!   I recently swapped a '01 2.0l SPI motor into my Escort.  Some pics here.  My wheels got stolen back in May, so I've been running '93 GT wheels with a full GT kit for a while now.  The EVO3 will go back on again once it's repainted, probably in April-May or so.  ERDT is gone for now, so be sure to hang out at www.feoa.net.  The forum there has grown quite a bit since many ERDT members moved there.

12/15/03-  I got a Tracer hood yesterday.  Found it in the local pull-a-part and it was only $26.  Just happened to be white too.  Check it out here.  I also changed my water pump and timing belt about 2 months ago, so look for the how-to with pics coming soon.  Haven't had much time to write it up as it's pretty large.   Also updated the mods page slightly to make it more complete and added a few new links.  That's about it for now.

9/8/03-  Long time, no update.   Still not a heck of a lot of new stuff.  Got new tires (Kumho 711's) and also got a SolarWingII rear window shade/wing.  I painted it white and I think it looks pretty cool.  Here's a pic so you can see it.  Also some more new pics on the pics page.

3/24/03-  Wow an update!  The only thing new recently is the addition of a Black Diamond Racing underdrive crank pulley.  It was quite easy to install.  I had to get a belt 2" shorter (45.5") than the stock one (47.5").  Remember I have no AC and no power steering, so this specific belt will only work if you have the same setup!  Due to the fact that I already have a slew of other bolt-ons on the engine, I didn't really notice much of a difference with the UDP.  If you have AC and PS I am sure it would help out a lot more as well.  Either way I would recommend it because of the high quality and reasonable price ($100).  Oh I almost forgot, I snagged a Vibrant Performance front strut tower bar.  It actually made more of a noticable difference than I expected.  You can actually feel the front end being tighter than before.  You can get them really cheap on eBay too.  I would recommend getting one if you don't have one already.

1/4/03-  Yesterday I finally went out and got my exhaust installed.  I kept the same muffler, but had a custom bent 2.25" pipe made from the header back.  I also had them install a 2.25" Magnaflow stainless cat and 2.25" stainless flex pipe.  I noticed a nice increase in high end power, but a loss of low end torque.  It is also much more quiet on the freeway, which is good.

12/22/02-  Been a while again.   Nothing much new, but I did get some GT sideskirts last month as you can see in the above pic.  Right now the scort is in winter mode, rolling the stock 13's and the gt bumper.  I have a super secret plan for the front end next spring, we'll have to just wait and see what come of it.

10/24/02-  Washed the cars and took some new pics today.  Check em out here.

10/20/02-  Check out the new section- What's Inside.  Here you'll find out what's inside some parts on your car.

9/12/02-  Sorry for the lack of updates.  Nothing exciting or new with the escort.  Last month someone stole my cd deck but that's about all that's happened since then.  One of these days I'll get some new pics with the grill mesh installed.  I've had it on there for a few months now but my camera is on the fritz.  If anything new comes up I will update the page of course.

8/5/02-  Got my ZXTuner indiglo gauges and wrote up a how-to to install them.  Hope you like it.

7/27/02-  Sorry for the lack of updates.  Been working mostly on the 323 lately.  Although I just ordered some zxtuner reverse indiglo gauges for the scort, which should show up this week I hope.   I will also be repainting the front bumper and hopefullly getting some GT side skirts soon too.  Today I also won an HKS Super Sequential blow off valve (on ebay of course) which will be put on my mazda instead of the  stock bypass valve which makes a silly "moo" sound.  I'm going to try it venting to the atmosphere at first but it may stall the car if the ECU doesn't like that.  If that happens I'll just order up the HKS adpater to convert the BOV to a bypass valve and route it back into the intake.  More info on the next update.

7/11/02-  Last month I purchased a new car.  It's an '88 Mazda 323 GT.  This car has the B6T turbo engine in it!   The thing is fun as hell.  I whipped up a page with some pics and info on the car, which you can see here.  Most likely the escort won't get worked on much for a while, but I'm not selling it!  It will get some more attention later.

6/7/02-  I got the rear seat installed today.  I wrote up a how-to for this also.  You can read it here.

6/6/02-  Today I went and picked up an MX3 rear seat to match my MX3 front seats.  Here is a pic of it, not yet installed.  More pics will follow once I get it in the car.

6/5/02-  I posted a new how-to for installing an aftermarket tach in your 91-96 LX or Pony.

5/13/02-  It's been a while.  I'm finally back up and running with a DSL connection at home again.  I have some new pics up, since there hasn't really been anything since january.   I've done a few things to the escort, including an MX3 seat swap and '94 escort MAF swap.  Besides that, there is a turbo motor in the works which should be nice (keep it quiet it's a secret!).  Of course there will be pics as it progresses.  I've made a how-to for the MAF swap, it's very simple to do.  Also there is now a how-to section on my page, click down on the bottom.  I will have a how-to for everything I have done that everyone wants to know.

1/11/02-  I finally got some new wheels this past wednesday.  They are 17" Konig Traffiks, white powder coated.  There's a couple pics right here, here, and here.  Check them out and let me know what you think of them.  I also added those pics to the pics page.

12/30/01-  It's been a while.  I got the bumper installed, and also got some Hella 500 driving lights.  Today I also finished up my throttle body swap.  I've installed a '90 GT throttle body onto my '91.  I wrote up a full how-to, with pictures, which you can see here.  I am also working on a full Escort FAQ.  Let me know what you think of it.

10/29/01-  Updated the "stuff for sale" page.  Click the link above to see what I have.  Added some links to the links page.  I've been working on my EVO bumper, and it should be on in 1-2 weeks.  It takes a bit of work to fit it perfectly.

10/20/01-  The page is back to frames style now.  I like it much better like this.

10/17/01-  Last sunday I picked up an EVO bumper for my scort.  Here's a few pics: 1  2  I am currently sanding it down and designing a custom metal frame to go behind it.  More pics and info to come...

9/26/01-  I totally re-did the pics page, I think it's much better now.  I also put a pic up of the headlight eyebrows I made from 3M vinyl.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

9/17/01-  Got my GT bumper on the front now, and of course a few pics.  I'll have some more once it gets nice out again.

9/11/01-  Today is a day we'll all remember for a long time.  I give my deepest sympathies to all the people affected by the WTC and pentagon catastrophies.  I personally lived in NY and have seen and been to the world trade center and the feeling all this gives me is indescribable.

On another note, I have a few new pics up of my new rear bumper.

9/10/01- Today I snagged a '94 LX rear bumper and '91 GT front bumper for the scort.  The rear one is mint, but the front needs a little work and paint.  More info as it happens.

8/28/01-  I installed my new scoop for my cold air intake today.  It is a dryer vent with a flap, and I put a choke cable on the flap so I can open a close it from inside, for those many rainy days here in washington   There's some pics on the pics page of course.

8/27/01-  I picked up some parts for my cold air intake scoop.  I'll have pics of it tomorrow.  I also put a white pinstripe on the tail lights, and it looks sweet.  Look for a pic of that too.

8/11/01-  Today I drove down to oregon to hang out with Gary, Luke, and Mike, the Compass Motorsports guys.  I got my new Cold Air Intake setup, including the new CMS carbon kevlar heat shield and MAF adapter.  I have the first ones of these ever made!  Check out all the new pics of this stuff on the pics page.  Don't forget to go to www.CompassMotorsports.com and order some stuff too!  The new cold air setup makes a noticable difference, especially at highway speeds.  We cut a hole in the bottom where the airbox was and bent it down to create a scoop.  Then we installed a 90 degree rubber pipe with S&B dual-flanged air filter.  We also installed the carbon kevlar heat shield over the entire bottom hole area, sealing it and creating a cold-air-only intake!   Once I get another length of pipe I will connect it to the bottom flange of the filter and run it out the bottom instead of the bent down scoop.

8/10/01-  There's a few new Large pics on the pics page.  Some really big ones @ 1024 resolution, they look sweet.  The new camera rocks!

8/9/01-  I got a new digital camera today, so now I don't need to keep borrowing one.  It's the Kodak DX3500.  Takes great pictures, hi res too.  I have a few new ones on the pics page, check them out they are in the 'large' section.

8/6/01-  Been too long since the last update. The springs and struts are awesome.  The improvement in handling is amazing.   I was surprised that the ride isn't rock hard either.  Yesterday I took out my sub and sub amp, as it kept moving around too much and I didn't want to put bolts in it.   That relieved my car of about 50 pounds, so that's good anyway.  Now I just have to decide if I should keep it or sell it.

7/26/01- Yesterday I put on my struts and springs.   It all turned out cool.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions about anything.  There's some new pics on the pics page, under the section 'side', and you can see how low it is now.  Lisa got new tires her car today, and there's some pics of them on her page.  Check em out.

7/21/01-  Today my fiancè. Lisa, got a new car.  It's a mint 1990 Escort GT.  There's lots of pics here.

7/20/01- I got my springs yesterday.  They are purple!  They won't be visible anyway though, so it's OK.  Here is a pic of them new in the box.  I will try to take pictures as I'm doing the installation next wednesday too.

7/16/01-  Got a pic of the mudflaps on the mods page.  I also called racesearch to see where the heck my springs were, and it turns out the warehouse that had them closed, so they ended up having to ship directly from intrax.  They said they will ship tomorrow, so I'll have them soon.  The header is also working great.  For some reason I thought I would have problems with it.  The paint I used looks mint still, so I guess it won't burn off if it didn't already.  The only annoying thing about the header is that now the egr is disconnected, so the check engine light comes on every once in a while.  No big deal though.  Also check out this pic of my scort and my brother in-law to-be's (see if you can get that one, hehe) 1980 280zx.  It's a sweet car.

7/15/01-  I put some new wire loom on under the hood, mostly around the battery area.  It looks a lot cleaner even though it's just a few wires.

7/12/01- I got my hands on my mom's digital camera,  so quite a few new pics are up in the pics section.  I got my mudflaps today that I won on ebay, and they are pretty sweet.  Perfect fit, I'll get a pic of them too soon.  Mods page has been updated also.

7/11/01- I finally got my header all painted up and installed today. The flange WAS upside down like I thought, even though pacesetter said it wasn't. Luckily the ports still lined up OK.  I painted it flat black with vht flameproof paint, then ran it a for a while to cure it.  After a few more runs it will be fully cured.  Right now I have no cat on there, so my exhaust got much louder than it was. I notice a slight increase in power from about 2500rpm and up, even more in the high rpms. I think the install is worth it just for the weigh difference between the stock and new one. The stock header and cat assembly weigh about 2x more than the whole new one. The stock one also looks extremely restrictive to me. I took some pics as I was installing it, so once I get em I'll post some up. The only two problems I encountered while installing it were: the egr connector that goes down and connects in the back has no where to connect. I have it plugged up for now, and the check engine light comes on and off sometimes. It runs normal though. The other problem is that I needed to buy new header bolts beacause the old ones are way too long. Too bad theres no instructions with the header or maybe they woulda helped out. If anyone has any questions now that I've actually done this, just ask.

7/9/01-  I installed my sway bar today.   What a difference!  The body roll is cut in half at least, and corners are much easier to take at speed.  Just to compare, the old bar is like 3/4" I think and it is hollow.  The new bar is 1" and solid.  the difference is HUGE.   Go here now and order one for your own car!

7/8/01-  Today I was down at portland international raceway for the autocross.  Gary from Compass Motorsports was there, and also two other scorters from the great NW.  I got my 1" sway bar from Gary, and will be installing it tomorrrow.  This thing is huge compared to stock.  I had a great time, and hope to get together with the guys again.

6/29/01- I got my header today, it actually came early.  It is the right one too!  I am glad to finally have it.  It did come with a few scratches, and a big paintless spot, but I was planning to repaint it anyway.  I also found out that my springs are backordered for 2 weeks, so I am trying to see if the intrax or sprint springs are available sooner.  I think they are all comparable to each other from what I'v heard.  I also got a call from Gary at CompassMotorsports today and he said my sway bar will ship on monday.  New pics will be added soon, and if I get the chance I will take pics of some of the installation of parts too.

6/27/01- Today I ordered my springs. I decided on the suspension techniques ones, since they are a good price and good quality.  I should get them next week and then I can start putting stuff on the car!

6/26/01- My header IS actually shipped, I'll get it next monday.  On sunday I ordered the zx2 s/r tokico strut kit, and it also shipped and will be here next tuesday.  I'm also going to order the compass motorsports 1" rear sway bar, and I gotta get some springs from someplace too.

6/23/01- Of course my header didn't show up friday, so I emailed cyberauto.  I better get it this time!  On a good note, I got my clear corners and they look sweet.  They are so clear that my headlights look yellow now.  I need to give them a good polish to get the haze off.  I am also looking to get some bmw headlights to put in, which should look cool.

6/14/01- I found a pacesetter header at cyberauto.com.  I should have it by next friday.  Hopefully it won't be a honda header again.  Good price at $145 shipped too.  I coulda got it cheaper but no where else could get me one.  I also won some clear corner lights on eBay.  I should also get them this week.

6/12/01- Well HotShot emailed me back, and of course, they said the header won't fit a '91.  Now I'm gonna try to get a pacesetter again, or maybe the BAT header.

6/11/01- Today I ordered a HotShot header.   Looks ALOT nicer than the pacesetter.  Costs more too though.  I am starting to put the news on this page at the top now, so you don't need to scroll unless you wanna read the older stuff.   You can check out my pic here of what it may look like if our cars had altezza lights.

6/8/01- I went to the local pull-a-part yesterday, looking for some rear speaker panels I could hack up and put 6x9s in.  I got them, and also found a nice fake leather shift boot on a toyota.  It was a near-perfect fit, and looks much nicer than the stock rubber boot.  Too bad I didn't try putting the 6x9s in before I wasted $4 on the new panels, because it turns out they won't fit in their spot even with the top panels off.  At least I have the extras now so I can think of some other way to mod them.  Another thing I did recently was drill out my shift knob.  The particular knob I have didn't go on very far, and had a 1" of metal on top.  So I took a drill and made a hole almost all the way through, letting the knob go down further on the shifter, and shortening the throw even more.  This won't work with the stock knob, since it is already threaded almost all the way to the top.

6/7/01- Got my header picked up today and got my money back from racesearch.  I must say they do have very good customer service.

6/4/01- I finally sold the extra short shifter I had.  It's gone off the for sale page now.  I also got screwed on the pacesetter header.  I ended up getting a 1.6l vtec header in the box which was supposedly my escort header.   The guys at pacesetter messed up on that one.  I also can't get a new one for at least 45 days, so I got my money back.  I'll probably go for suspension stuff now, since there's not many other bolt on engine parts I can get.  Coming soon will be tokico zx2 struts, some new springs, compass 1" rear sway bar, and maybe the suspension techniques front sway bar.  Also I will probably get the fastco strut braces from corksport.

5/20/01- I put some stuff on the Stuff I have for Sale page, and added a few minor things to the mods and specs pages.

5/17/01- Today I ordered a pacesetter header from Racesearch.  I emailed em and they said they had one in stock.  It's taken me like 3 months to find one of these things, so I sure hope I get it.  I remodeled and a few new links to the links page.  Also I added a new pic on the side, and that pic above, it's not real of course.

4/28/01- Added some interior pics, and some actual pics of my steering wheel and shift knob on the pics and mods pages.  Check em.

4/26/01- I just cleaned and renewed my dragon filter foam, and took a few pics of the filter without the foam on it.  Turned out to be a better quality piece than I thought.  Take a look at the bottom of the pics page.

4/25/01- Added a contact page (see link above).  Also added pics of my short shifter and steering wheel on the mods page.   Actual photos of them in the car will be added soon.

4/23/01- I finally got my shift knob.  Carparts.com had to special order it and never told me.  I still would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs some stuff for their scort.

4/9/01- I got a new steering wheel and short shifter.  They will soon have pics.

4/4/01- Added a ton of new links.  I hope to have one of the most extensive Escort link pages around when I am finished.

3/12/01- Welcome to my new site for my escort.  I'll be updating it frequently, so be sure to check back for new links, pics, and other stuff.
